“The issue of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and online sexual enticement of children (OSEC) is a prevalent and shocking crime that most people don’t even realize exists. Unlike child sex trafficking, CSAM is not fueled by money, but by offenders who prey on children for their own gratification. Having viewed millions of files of CSAM, and identifying and rescuing many victims while investigating this horrific crime, I have seen the loss of innocence, the loss of hope and the trauma this crime can cause. When you rescue a child from this situation, no words can articulate the overwhelming feeling of hope for what is ahead and sadness for the weight they carry. It is incredibly important that we all fight to identify and rescue these children and bring the offenders to justice. This is, and will continue to be, a priority for the dedicated men and women of HSI and INTERPOL.” – Homeland Security (HSI) Investigations Supervisory Special Agent and Chair of the INTERPOL Specialists Group on Crimes Against Children Jim Cole.
