OPERATION LIGHT SHINE CREATED THE INTERCEPT TASK FORCE TO SUPPORT DOMESTIC EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND CHILD EXPLOITATION.

Operation Light Shine created the Inter-agency Child Exploitation And Persons Trafficking Task Force (INTERCEPT) to provide the resources, staffing, and support required to identify and rescue child victims, apprehend their offenders, and reduce the risk through public education and awareness. The state-of-the-art facilities will bring together law enforcement, NGOs, prosecutors, victim services, and medical professionals in a multi-disciplinary approach to fight the exploitation and trafficking of children. The INTERCEPT Task Force is a world-class, first-of-its-kind workspace providing all resources required to conduct investigations, plan and run operations, identify and rescue victims, educate parents and youth, process and analyze seized data, and serve its community.

Because SE is largely perpetrated in a digital landscape CSE investigators need more powerful laptops to run sophisticated software while HT investigators require less powerful hardware.

Replacing salaries helps LEA's backfill the positions of the detectives they are dedicating to the task force. It's a crucial selling point to the LEA's we partner with. Their squad car is dedicated to the agent involved in the Task Force and the tech package belongs personally to that detective. It includes cell phone, laptop, multiple IT plug ins necessary for operational security. This is an annual expense that covers 10 Task Force Agents.

The make-or-break component to the facility which enables the digital forensics analysts to obtain critical evidence to not only prosecute the offender, but rescue the child with hard evidence. The forensics lab is one of the most important components to each task force. Most forensics labs within law enforcement facilities have a several months backlog. A dedicated lab within the Task force facility is vital to the speed of investigations.
